Default :'( - 15k Armor looks the same.

I understand, I should have researched this before I bought into it.. but I didn't, due to my assumptions that all 15k armor looked different.

But.. lo and behold, the Druids set (in the Grotto) doesn't.. at least not the chest piece (the only one of them I've bought so far). It looks the exact same (and of course, exact same stats, but that's not why I bought it). /cry

I can only assume this isn't intended, and will be changed 'in the future', because a money sink like that is kind of pointless. But my question is.. when? I'll keep it in my storage until then.. but I'll cry right now. *sniff*.

The Druid's set was mentioned in the announcement that changed the 15K Geomancer's armor to have a unique look as NOT YET having a unique graphics. All I can say is to pay more attention.

Well I'm sorry if I don't read the updates front to back, and instead would rather enter the game and enjoy it..

And I'm sorry that you didn't see that I said I knew it would be changed and that it was a known issue. "All I can say is to pay more attention."

The Armor crafting system in this game is one of the few things in this game that I do not care for.

I don't think that armor made for one person absolutely can not be worn by somebody else. If the weapon smith can "Customize" your weapon for your hands, why can't he "Customize" Somebodies armor to fit your body?

Imagine if you could FIND armor while you are out on a mission. Imagine Guild Wars after a year of constant patches and item additions.

Imagine that there was sooo much equipment in the game that EVERYBODY looked different.

Imagine you walkin up to a REALLY cool lookin warrior and sayin' "WOW! Nice Breastplate! What's it called? What's the stats on it? Where did you find it?"

I think the way players level up in Guild Wars is great. There are literally a million different flavors of players depending on what classes and attributes you choose to use. I just wish my player could LOOK as unique as he actually was. =)

I have a question... if I buy a 15k gladiator armor right now, will the changes affect me when this armor will be updated with new graphics ? Or only to new bought armor ?

That is a very good question.

It's also a question that... If Answered... Will relieve a little bit of Player Stess I think. =)

Why can't they make 15k armors look like the ones weared by Cyn or Mhenlo or Eve...

They look awesome. Until then, I'll keep my money until they change the look.

Tats are worse - little or no difference. IMO the dragon looking tats looks much better than the 15k ones.

a full body tats would be awesome - i mean just plain color, that looks like you are wearing a spandex. LOL!

Thanks for "buing" a game that will never be finished?

The game is quite NEW. Do you expect that there will not be patches to fix what is left to be done?

It is explained in the game why you can't find armor in the battle field. It has to be fitted to your body, hence armor crafters. And if you're not aware of this, these crafters are 'customizing' your armor. When you salvage armor you find it turns into crafting materials that you use for armor. Did you think this was just coincidence? The gold is a fee for the crafters to make it. The armor system isn't going to change to your desires. It is not how the game is built, but if that is what you want to do, there are several games with that way of finding items.

See, but the problem is that with, it promotes grinding, which Guild Wars have stated numerous times they don't want to do. Look at Diablo II. People would do Mephisto and Baal and Pindleskin runs OVER and OVER just to get the godliest piece of armor there was in the game. Guild Wars wants to maintain the, "everyone can be equal, strategy counts," state of mind.

Point Noted...

But in Diablo, Mephy and Pindle have a certain % to drop ANY item. (that's a simplified explanation)

I was more thinking that.... Ahhh.... Let me think of a good example. I'll use Everquest as an example. (I know. I know. You grind like hell in EQ)

You go deep into Najena. A cave complex full of Dark Elf Necromancers. If you actually get deep enough to fight "Najena" herself... She will drop the "Flowing Black Robes" EVERYTIME.

The other thing to consider is that there MUST be A LOT of gear that drops ALL OVER. So that you don't really have to LOOK for anything. You just find armor in the course of your travels.

I think this system could work well to improve individualism, without creating the need to grind.

Also. Let's remember that grinding and farming are two different things. You gotta grind to level up and advance. But farming is an individual's choice.

I agree that having 100% drops of "special" looking armor off of tougher mobs would further encourage PvEers. You could work towards a cool armor piece on your way to earning 15k, or not. This wouldn't be a real grind, as it's jsut like the 1.5k armor, but it looks different. I think we were all willing to settle for four or so "looks" for a class for a while, but it is really begining to look old, and uninspiring. I'd imagine most players that want to RP would have some trouble with this as well.

The dropped armors would be sort of out-of-the-way, mostly and would be an alternative to FoW armor, etc.

I do believe they can change the appearance of armours already being worn by players. It happened to me once in the betas when my Enchanter's armor suddenly looked completely different after a logout. I'd say yours will change too if they update it one day.

EQ expansion shipped with 512MB ram sims for reviwers back in the days because it hogged soo much more memory than the original and they didnt want bad reviews from reviewers not having ram enough...

Will the GW expansions ship with new HD's for reviewers so they can see everybodys different armor?

Tho a good bit more variations would be nice

Hah - yeah, I know. I wish I had Elementalist armor that looked like the one the trainer wore in Pre-Seared Ascalon, up in Wizard's Folly. That was some awesome looking armor.

I too wish I could make my player look a little more unique. Dye's are fun but they can only take your character's appearance so far. I think maybe the armor you get from collectors should look really unique, and maybe instead of having a plethora of different armor sets, maybe just add a few but create different ways to "customize" the armor that you have. Just like adding runes to your armor, you could maybe add different cosmetic things to your armor and such. I think having the option to dye your armor is cool and a good start, they just need to run with that idea and take it a LOT farther

oo oo I actually just thought of a REALLY cool idea for armor (i hope).

ok, so keep the armor crafters, but give the player the option of what kind of armor to craft. for example: lets say an elementalist robe at ascalon needs 10 different materials for it to be crafted, and requires at LEAST 1 bolt of cloth and 1 bolt of linen. then the other 8 materials the player can choose, and each material gives a different attribute to the armor. like, adding iron will give more resistance to physical attack whereas adding glittering dust will add to the elemental resistance, and so on and so forth. in addition, each material added to the armor gives a slightly different appearance, so my armor crafted from 9 bolts of cloth and 1 bolt of linen will look completely different from a robe crafted from 9 iron ignots and 1 linen, even though we're both lvl10 elementalist. this adds to the diversity of the armor (because possibilities are almost unlimited) and adds virtually no grind! (materials are needed as it is, so really no ADDITIONAL grind).

man, I'm a genious! Hope you read all that a-net, I'll be expecting my royalties check in the mail (pm for the address )

They will be updated eventually. And you're armour will look cooler afterwards. A.Net just hasn't gotten around to it. You can read a bit about it in a minor update on the updates page.

A shoulder pad size toggle tool, boot size, glove weave design and what not - all probably good ideas to further bloat money sinks. While at the same time slightly solving this unique armor issue.
